1. The following air activity and aircraft were observed at Mersebarg airfield between 11
and 30 January 19552
Between 0820 and 1505, MiG-15s or U MiG-15s made about 20 local flights.
There was no air activity.
a 0945 and 1540, 6 WIG-15s or U-M1G-15s with auxiliary fuel tanks
made 5 training flights. At 0955, aircraft took off in formation 25X1
and climbed altitude of 6,000 to 8,000 asters. At 1001 and 1004, 2 formations
of 2 aircraft took off and climbed to the ' 25X1
same altitude. Between 1 5 and 1038, the aircraft 6 practiced attacking with banks,
steep climbs and loops. At 1039, the aircraft assembled in line formation and, at
1046, landed at intervals of about 400 actors. Between 1205 and 1300 and between 1445
and 1540, flying was practiced as in the morning by the same aircraft. During air
ao*ity. the alert flight was parked in the usual dispersal area.
20 to 24 James, There was no air activity. On 23 Januuary, 19 MiG-15a or U-MiG-151
were vaunted at the field, including 4 alert aircraft at the eastern end of the ra way
and 15 in the southeastern corner of the field*
Between 0945 and 1410, MiEIG-159 made individual local flights.
At 1320, 3 Li-2s approached lrsi the east and landed. At 1410, the Li-2s
took f again and disappeared toward the northeast. Your single-engine monoplanes
which were seen landing at 1420 made local flights until about 1650.
27- Jamarr. Between 1135 and 1410, X10 -15a or U-YAG 15s practiced flying in formations
of two and four.
28 Jamaarv. Between 1555 and 2200, individual local flights were made, while the
airl.old lights were in operation.
29 lb-BOA At 1410, 4 MG-15s or U-MiG l5s took off and, in formation, disappeared
toward the *lot.
30 &NIM, There was no air activity. Fifter MiG.15e or [J-MIG-15s and 4 single-
engine monoplanes were counted at the field.
2. An additional umbrella-shaped antenna was seen 100 to 150 meters northwest of the
main guard. There was apparently no change in the status of the previously reported
radio and radar iaustallations.
3. On 21 and 22 Jamaary, 3 railroad tank ears each were shunted to the field. On 27 and
29 Tarmary, 5 and 7 railroad tank oars respectively were shunted there. 25X1

C = Merseburg airfield is believed to be still occupied by a
fighter division headquarters and me fighter regiment. There was only light
air activity during the reported period, A total of 15 MP-45s or U-MiG-1 s
and 4 single-engine aeneplaaos were ceanted at the field.
