REMARKS
1. The following air activity and aircraft were observed at Rechlin-Laerz
airfield between 18 January and 4 February 1955,
18 January. Between 0930 and 1430, there was no air activity. MiG-15s or
U..IiG-155 arced in the field included 12 which were canvas>oovered,
/~ headed west and p ed in a row on the landing field, about 150 meters

east of the m b 8 heading toward the west, south of the intersection
of the runwaend a t 10 south of the eastern end of the main runway.
January. A 1300, 2 MiG-15e or U..MiG-15s were seen crossing over the field
at ah altitude of about 1,000 meters. No other air activity was seen.
Observations were made from a far distance.
27 January. No air activity was observed. About 20 MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s were
parked on the landing field. A lean-to roof was seen near the auxiliary runway
south of the main runway. Eight Mid..15s or U-MiG-15s were parked near the
lean-to roof.
1 February. Beginning at 1930, there was air activity by MiG-15s or U-Iic-159
which had set position lights. The aircraft circled the field widely.
2 February. No air activity wads observed.
4 February. Beginning at 2000, MiG-1;s or U..MiG-15s made local flights
at intervals of 10 to 15 minutes
2. A Token-type radar set was seen on a hill north of the Vietzen-Retzow road.2
3. Six emplacements, probably AA gun emplacemeents, whichwere guarded by a sentry
were seen about 400 meters north of the gap in the fence at the Laerz-
-Rechlin road. 3

A sentry armed with a carbine was seen at *. ~49 about 100 meters

road. The gap was secured by a wire f *se. Two Rs arced with carbines were
seen at the railroad bridge across the Mirew Canal. Two other YP wepe seen

6. At 0900 on 20 January, there was air activity by MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s at
Rechlin-Laerz airfield. Thirteen MiG-15e or U4IiG-15s were parked at the
eastern end of the runway. At 1600, about 30 MiG-15s or U-NiG-15s were parked
at the field. At 1500 on 21 Ja>ea,ary, about 35 MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s
were parked at the field. No aircraft crates were seen. 1
7. A Token-type radar set was seen on Sprottscher Berg (hill). 2

Comment. Rechlin-Laerz airfield is believed to be occupied by a fig
hter 25X1
division headquarters and two fighter regiments. The lean-to roof near the
auxiliary runway is reported for the first time.
Comment. The Token-type radar set north of the Vietzen-Retzow
