1. The primary functions of the MVD Agnpa" Section were checking passes, patrolling
MVD buildings, and controlling the internal jail.1 The internal guard we divided 25X1
into sections with responsibility for specific buildings. Guards von uniforms

senior lieutenants. Prior to Beriya's time, sergeants were used.
2. In addition, the lot F.E. Dzerzbiapkiy MVD Moto-) ohanized Division was used to
guard government buildings and installations. External guards for WD buildings
were always taken from this division. At the entrance to MVD headquarters there
were two armed soldiers of the division who stood guard, and two members of the
Komendan+. staff w checked door nts. During Beriya'a regime twenty-one MVD
me?bere In civilian clothes also circulated outside the MVD buildings.
