During the afternoon of 2 October, a small minesweeper carried out maneuvers in the roadstead between Arkhangelsk and Keg Island. It maneuvered back and forth for about one and a half hours. The vessel had a great deal of equip- ment on deck, but none of it was used during the maneuvers. On each side of the-bow there was a, tube which lay parallel to the bow and was connected to something on the forecastle. The tubes did not resemble the "hemmers" used for sweeping acoustic mines. On both sides of the deck there was a row of objects rRmembling +.orpedons. On each side of the afterdeck there were two egg-shaped objects about one meter long. On the east side of the field there were two northwest to southeast parallel rows of lights. The west row was red and ~he east row white- The aircraft that landed on the field resembled DC-3s. several jet aircraft over Arkhangelsk, but they did not land at Keg Island. a special vessel in the harbor of Arkhangelsk. It was about 200 feet long and had some high structure forward, possibly a crane or hoist of some type, and two stacks with blue bands around them. The vessel was motor-powered.
