A radar station is located about 2 kilometers northwest of the one Airfield administration building and about 80Om.so*th ?Of the southern edge of Knszeves 25X1 (N 50-09, 9 13-39). It is approximately 300 m.southwsst of elevation point 357, which is on the_Prrkgue-SAatur highway at the junction of the local road to Predni Kapenina. Construction of the radar station was started in the spring of 1953 and was finished by summer 1953. The construction was performed by military personnel. Notices were put up along the highway in the vicinity of the station, forbidding passers-by to stop.. 2. A new road was built to the radar station, branching off the highway a little to the south of elevation point 357. It has a hard surface, is about 300 m. long and 3-4 meters wide. The entry from the highway is barred by a wooden barrier and the branch road is patrolled by a soldier in khaki uniform. 3. The radar station is in an enclosure about 150x50..m.and surrounded by a paling about 1.24 m6 high. There is a sentry boot at the entrance to the enclosure. Two wooden huts, a ?2ft6 m. are in the northern part of the enclosure. A metal tower is in the southwest corner. The tower looks ke an electric 25X1 pylon for high t ston current. It has a shape of a narrowing square and is about 9 a. 4. A radar with a bawl-type antenna is in the southeast corner of the enclosure. The antenna is of wire netting and its diameter is about 3 m. It is placed on a revolving base wormed on a carriage on wheels with pneumatic tires. Instead of this type of radar# a mobile apparatus with aerials resembling a radio transmitter is scme mo Rod. 5. A third installation, slightly lower than the bowl--type radar, is placed between the metal tower and the radar station. Its antenna looks like an interwoven steel case, about 21.5 a.square, fixed on a fairly stout rod which is installed on an undercarriage pith -tic-tire wheels. -This installation is always in the enclosure.
