1. VEB GASELAN has been ordered to prepare designs for special
apparatus for gas-producing plants to be built in Communist
China. The Chinese are to build gas containers and other basic
construction items themselves. The designs are to e prepared
for short-term delivery and are to be based on GOST standards.
However, the East German State Planning Commission has only
600 of these standards out of 10,000 standards developed by the
USSR.
2. VEB GASELAN has not been able to obtain all of the needed GOST
standards for preparing the designs for these gas-producing
plants. The State Planning Commission has told GASELAN that
the customer who requires the use of GO$T standards in designs
must furnish the papers containing these standards. The Chinese
Trade Delegation, who passed the order onto G.SELMN, is unable
to furnish the required GOST standards. GASELAN officials
therefore are unable to prepare the designs as ordered.
