SUSJECT Repatriation of Russian Emigrants
from China to the USSR

Soviet farmer. The family has a monthly income of 2,000 rubles, 25X1
the total amount of wages received by the daughter and her husband. Both
are employed by a tractor combine in the area.
3. By early August, approximately 8,000 Russian emigrants had left Manchuria for
the USER as a result of the recent Soviet repatriation program. About 3,000
of these were from Harbin about 1,000 were from Dairen, and the rest were from
other areas of Manchuria.s
4. The repatriates were not permitted to choose the area in the USE in which
they wished to settle. They weEe sent to the following areas: Kazakhstan,
Turkestan, and Altay Mountains. All repatriates received 4,000 rubles aft125X1
crossing the Sino-Soviet border into the USSR. At that time they were also
informed by Soviet authorities that they were to build their own homes in the
areas to which they were being sent.
2~ By late July about 100 Russian emigrants had left Tientsin for the USER.
