1. In October 1953, two AA guns, barrels of which were almost vertically elevated,were
observed in the area of the barracks installation 500 meters west of the Prerav (P 50/
0 03) railroad station between the Becva River and the Prostejov (P 50/k 73) road. In
the summer of 1953, eight armored vehicles, two of them mounting guns: left this
Installation. The local residents referred to the installation as the Alto Kaserne or
the Dragoner Kaserne.l
2. Prior to the spring of 1954, the former convent at the intersection of ul. Siraw 40
ul. Travnik in thl center of the city was occupied by soldiers who wore epaule a
red basic color. he main building of the convent had four stories and was aboi
meters long. Prior to the spring of 1954, the former Svisly estate which the fa
also called the Ludiku Grunt estate was used as military billets. One Senior
Lieutenant Brazda (friu) who belonged to a motor transport unit was known to be
stationed in this installation,which was located in the southeastern sector of the
city about 400 meters southeast of the former conventc2
3. A newly constructed barracks installation which the population called the New
_ Barracks near Zelatovice (P 50/0 03) was allegedly located about 1.5 kilometers east
of the city on the north side of the Zelatovice road. Troops were frequently
observed prIctieing in the uneven area of the meadows 2 kilometers southwest of
Zelatoviceo
4, Prior to the spring of 1954, the station komendatura.was located in the building of
the former four-story sugar factory on ul. Kosetinska. Military motor vehicles were
frequently parked in front of this installation. No sentries were observed. The
recruiting district headquarters was located in a building on ul. Smetanova in the
center of the city which also housed the local national committee.4

the northeast side of the Vitkov (N 51/P 58) road. On various occasions, construction
work and levelling activity was observed in the area of the installation. Improving
of the billets continued. A military motor-vehicle repair shop where trucks were
repaired was located just northwest of the cantonment on the opposite side of the

7. In the fall of 1953, a small camp which included three or four low buildings
was set up east of the chemical plant on the eastern perimeter of the city.
It quartered a guard unit for the plant which numbered 80 to 100 men who wore
red epaulets and received basic training.
