REFERENCES This is UNEVALUATED Information 4 May 1955 1 RD There are 32 different types of rations in the Bulgarian Army. Although nominally each unit receives its allotment according to its service designation, there are many variations according to rank or special assignment. The cost of the rations varies from 6.80 leva (No. :1) to 15.50 leva (No. 32). The food content differs principally in quantity and quality of meat, sugar and bread. Military prisoners receive the lowest numbers, with the Infantry, Hospitals, and the Air Force receiving progressively higher numbers. The Air Force, which is the only service to receive cake and fruit, and specifically its jet fighter personnel, are particularly favored.
