THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
lp The following observations ware made in the area of KBD Berlin on 4 and
5 April 1955:
a. On 5 April, the 1iP guard was withdrawn from the telephone exchange of
RBA 2~3. No VY guards have been observed at this KBA after thAt dates
b. The new duty schedule which went into effect on 1 April did not
involve moor chtsnges at KBD Berlin. Only Sunday duty schedules
were sub3ect to ma'~or changes. The new Sunday schedule was most
vehemently opposed by shunting personnel who refused to work a
12??hour shift. By order of the t"inistry of Traffic, all railroad
personnel who refused to work the new duty schedules will be
discharged without prior netice~ One of the most efficient
shunting foremen ttt the Berlin-Sohoeneweide railroad station
' refus3ed to comply with the new saheduloo Ylhen he was ;riven
dismissal notice, he recanted and +norked the lamest permis:~ible
shift on 5 April. Previously, there was a ttcit a3reer-ent riu-ong
the e~ployeea of ttBA 2~j ~accor difk; to which: personnel who lived
outside Berlin ended their shift so as to be able to reach the
next train to their places of residence. This practice was
discontinued, and on a Sunday, one ~ioinrich (fnu), whose shift
officially ended at 2200 houis~was not allowed to take the 21x5
train but had to wait until midniSht~before he could go home.

Between 1 and 5 April, it was learned that the new duty schedule was
accepted by employoes of HBA 1, Berlin. T!-e shunting personnel resents,
howe,4er, the new Sunday schedule ~>hioh envisages a 12?hour shift. One
Roffrann (fnu), chief of the Department for Rallin,~ Stock at KBD Berlin,2
Sohsidt (fnu), assistant station master in the area of RHD Schwerin,
and Yoolkner (fnu), station raster at Berlin-Grsifawa.lderstra:,se were 1
given dismissal notieea because the,/ had opposed the new duty scheduled
