THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
At a conference held by East German economists in East Berlin on 11 March
1955, Fred pelssner elaborated on the waste of wiaterials, faulty planning,
Qnd the hiFn percenta7e of rejects at V enterprises caused by sabotages
malevolence, and economic and political ignorance. Oelssner reproached the
enterprises r'4n a large-scale waste 'f crate hinds. Rey str tee , !Ri 1.1 i.or_s of
ea..tmarks are misused on w.Agres instead of introducinj; mcdern technical
norms; and hundreds of thousands were spent on t~ndeserved bonuses. Oelssner
especially blamed the method used by the heavy induc4;7y ..hich balances
its losses by government subsidies. He made it clear that the
1955 Economic Plan would leave no space for t.hitewashin,,r poor production
results by pointing to the stepped-up mass production of consumer goods.
