in April 1955, Fritz Selbmann, Minister for Eeavr- Industry, was the
subject of sbcur , criticism 4t other unidentified Central Committee
functionaries.
)e1bmann was accused of having failed to imple ent a series of recent
r'olitburo directives concerning the field of heavy industry. As a
result, it was stated, there existed Crea+ confusion in the allocation
of strategic materialsound '?he resultant chaotic situation caused many
of the nationalized enterprises in the heavy industry sector to incur
large deficits.
!articular concern was expressed because Selbmann's failure in the most
bssic segment of the economy had disrupted the export plan. is a result
it is anticipated that current export agreements will probably not be met.
