.1e At-the direction of the East German State Planning Commission, VEB
Werk fuer Fernmeldewesen, Berlin-Oberschoeneweide, has drawn up plans
for a large addition to their present factory site in the near future.
These plans, blueprints, and detailed estimates were submitted to the
East German Council of Ministers about the end of March 1955 and the
management of VEB Werk fuer Fernmeldewesen understands from Deputy.Mina-
ister-President Heinrich Rau that a fairly .prompt approval by the
Council can be expectede
2e The new building, which is to be erected adjacent to the present fac-
tory site, is planned so as to allow a.yearly production of 400,000 to
500,000 TV tubes of various sizes up to and'including 21-inch-picture
tubes*
If final approval by the Council of Ministers is not delayed to an
unreasonable extent, and if the building materials and the required
machine tools are made available on schedule, TEBWerk fuer Fernmelde-
wesen hopes to begin actual production at the new site by the end of
1956.
