On 3.Apri1 1955, a formation of 12 Soviet naval vessels anch~ared just outside
Constants harbor, The formation consisted of two heavy cruisers and ten
heavy (sic) destroyers, The cruisers were of the MOLOTOV - MAKS Il~I GORKIY
type and had.staeks located between the mastsol The destroyers resembled
the vessels illustrated on pages 309 and 310 of the 195+-1955 Edition of
Janets Fighting Ships ,2
SOURCE EVALUATIONS ARE DEFINITIVE. APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE
On the evening of 3 April, because of heavy seas, the formation put out to
sea. It returned to port the following morning,
On both 3 and ~+ April, the formation anchored inside.Constanta harbor, near
the Casino. The two cruisers moored in front of the destroyers. The destroyers
moored in two lines of five.: All the vessels faced east,
