1, No Soviet troop withdrawals or preparations' for withdrawals from Baden bei
Wien have been noted. Between 27 and 29 April 1955, large quantities of coal
were delivered to a Soviet requisitioned hotel in Baden, A Soviet official
in Baden is reported tohave stated that Soviet dependents will remain at least
until the start of the summer school vacations in order to insure educational
continuity for some 200 Soviet children attending school in Baden,
2, On or about 25 April 1955, a Soviet engineer battalion was moved from
Klosterneuburg to the Soviet staging area at Goepfrite. Before their departure
.from, Klosterneuburg, the soldiers let it be known that they were to be in
gherge of packing, crating and transp tation for all Soviet troops scheduled
for leave Austria. They enpected, th eforia to remain in Goepfritz until all
troops have departed,
3, The Soviets have halted construction work on the Straashof Deutsch Wagram
airfield, A Vienna firm, presumably a USIA enterprise, had already begun with
the construction of a new concrete runway, but was told shortly before 10 April
to stop all work.
