1. The plane Squadron
is located- on' o , a, Rumania. The squadron
executes routine' training and'reeonnaissance missions and'is supposed to
be used in the rescue of men in distress at-sea, but the pilotsalirays
land on ' lakes and have never -'received 'ariy training for landing on the seas
Aircraft' belonging to this squadron are also used to fly fishing agents
and inspectors who attempt to locate large schools of fish for the state
fishermen.
2. The squadron is equipped.-with twelve Heinkel-111 aircraft of which only
four-are--'in-condition to. fly and a fifth is undergoing repairs. The
personnel consists of-'22 officers,"second-lieutenants to'captains in-
clusive, 27' noncommissioned officers'and 12 enlisted men. The unit is
commanded by Capt4in Octavian Tofene. Major Lieutenant loan Jekel is the
political officer; Captain-Ilte Ilinca chief of staff, and Major

The battalion is-commanded by.

officer and Captaro H?ratiu Pailescu is'chief of staff. This unit is made
up of three platoonsof 32 men each. For .the past three months, part of
this battalion -has serviced the newly created bomber unit at Kogalniceanu
(formerly Regele Ferdinand), 13 miles northwest of Constants.
