Each family was allowed to purchase five catties of rice per month; landlords, farmers, a'id families placed lender control were not allowed this' ration quota. Each family was allowed to purchase one catty of oil, including lamp oil, every three days; one and one-half catties of sugar per year; and 12 feet of cloth per person per year.2 Other cereals and sweet potatoes were not controlled, but there was a scarcity of supply. 1, - comment. the buying price by the cooperative. for chicken was old JMP5,000 and the buying price for pork was old JMP200,000 25X1 for the first 100 catties; over 100 cattier, the price was dId.JMP360,000 for each additional 100 cattier. Iin early February the Chinese in Canton 25X1 were allowed six ounces of sugar per-person per month. Oil initially was rationed at one catty per person per month but was later reduced to from six to ten ounces. in August 1951+ rice was rationed 25X1 at thirty catties per person per month and oil was rationed at one catty per person per month; these ration quotas had been effective since March 1951+.
