Fifteen naval vessels usually lay at the Towi. Qw.ay. They came and left constantly.. One of the vessels was about 200 feet in 25X1 length, and had two funnels. The others were smaller vessels with "mine layer sterns". 2. Two pawl modern tugs were observed in. the harbor. 3. The range lights marked on Admiralty Chart No. 1770 were not followed by vessels entering or leaving the harbor. The course lies much nearer the north mole The harbor was closed for two days, because of a stiff breeze from west-northwest. There were breaking ground dwells in the area between, the moles. 4. A large dredge was observed 'working above the I port Quay. The area was lighted, and work went forward throughout the night. 5. Several batteries of searchlights were observed along the coast north and south of the harbor. One of them was located about one nautical mile noxth of the harbor entrance.
