Information
1. The following military field installations were observed in the Durres
area:
a. Eii.3ht heavy Soviet-type artillery pieces in the vicinity of the
royal palace overlooking the port of Durres.
b. Thirteen heavy Soviet-type artillery pieces deployed at the
foot of the hill on which the royal palace is located. On an
unidentified hill just north of the thirteen artillery pieces
additional artillery pieces and military personnel were observed
as well as a (newly?) constructed road and numerou~l(sic)
machine-gun emplacements. f
c. Zig-zag trenches; machine-gun and artillery emplacements south
of the port area,2
2. The following military field installations were observed in the Kavajg
area,, approximately 12 miles south of Dua. ?es:
a, Three heavy Soviet-type artillery pieces and an .unspecified
number of machine-gun emplacements at Shkemb,i Kavaje"s.3
b. An unspecified number of heavy Soviet-type artillery pieces are
deployed north of the Kavaje Agricultural School. In July
1951,, four AA guns,, of unspecified caliber, were observed near
the Agricultural School.
