On 3 May 1955, it was determined at to
the southeastern edge of the former Berlin-Johanniethal airfield
quartered an estimated 400 men who wore red-bordered black collar
patches. On 16 April 1955, about 25 IBA trucks, some of which
were loaded with 200-liter gasoline barrels, were parked in the
area of the installation. In late April, no activity other than
maintenance work on the sedans and trucks parked in the area of
the installation was observed at the site.2

Between 25 April and 3 May 1955, about 60 recruits who were to be
assigned to the guard unit arrived at the Eggersdorf installation.
Heavy weapons observed at the installation included five 85-m AA
guns, six 37-dw AA guns, and eight 12.7-mm A.A. machine-guns. Two

4 meters long were also seen at the site. In mid-May 1955,
the installation quartered an estimated 1,800 to 2,000 men
who wore red-red-bordered black and green collar patches.
Of these men about 700 belonged to the guard unit, 500 to the
AAA unit, 500 to the motor transport unit,and 100 to an
administrative unit, while the remainder consisted of signal
personnel.

Comment. The barracks installation southeast of Eggerddorf 25X1

commander of which is Major Braeutigam , is confirmed by the
present report. It is believed that the actual number of men quartered
in the installation is about 2,000. Four-barreled AA guns and 79.2-mm
