Information
1. Between 22 April and 9 May 1955, Brandin airfield w @,s not occupied
by an air unit. On 4 May, 2 Li-2s fitted with
yellow propeller hubs landed at the field. Eight officers who wore
black-bordered blue epaulets left these aircraft, which took off
again on the same day. MiG-15s and one 11-28 were seen crossing the
airfield, but otherwise no air activity was observed. After 0800
on 10 May, a total of 36 MiG-15s and Yak-14 landed at the
airfield. Four Li-2s were observed landing a Brent times. About
30 soldiers stepped out of each of these 4 aircraft, which later took
off again. The airfield barracks were occupied to capacity. Soldiers
were also seen living in tents. 1
2. Construction work on the south-western extension of the runway was
continued. Five of the previously reported dams were completed. On 4
May, the construction site was inspected by 14 officers who wore black-2
bordered blue epaulets. Eight of these officers had arrived in a Li-2.
3. On 27 April, 8 railroad cars were unloaded by means of 2 cranes. On 5
May, 6 railroad cars were observed for the last time near the ALA
emplacement. 3
5. Between 15 April and 15 May 1955, individual take-offs and landings by
Li-2s were observed at the field. On 26 April, a single-engine Soviet fighter
plane was seen in the athletic field partly hidden in the woods, which was
being cleared behind the Soviet kommendatura.

6. About 80 % of the Soviet soldiers seen at the field wore yellow-bordred
blue epaulets, 18 % black-bordered blue epaulets and 2 % red-bordered
black epaulets. 1

Three new aircraft revetments were apparently completed near the western
curve of the taxiway. Four other such revetments were under construction

10. For some time the fuel dump had been guarded by a sentry who after dark
was accompanied by a watch deg. A device was being constructed to which
a watch dog might be.fastened in each a way that it could cover the whole
area of the fuel dump.
11. The fire righting detail at the airfield consisted of 5 or 6 men. A fire
truck was available.
12. A rotating searchlight has been in operation every night since 23
April 1955 from the direction of Poasea.

13. Five above-ground ammunition sheds measuring 200 x 120 x 130 centimeters
were located in the vicinity of the athletic field.
Comm t_ It is believed that the 36 MiG-15s observed on 10 May are
hem the fighter regiment in Groseenhain that they will most probably be
statinapd at 3randis, while reconditioning work on the runway at
Grosse is in progress.
