REFERENCES 26 July 1955 In the latter part of May 1955, a "profitability conference" (Rentabilitaet8- 25X1 Deratung) took place in the Main Administration for Ship Construction in the East German Ministry for Heavy Machine Construction. On this occasion, Heinrich Euensel, technical head of the Main Administration mentioned, made the statement that construction work on ships for the USSR will have to be discontinued because of a lack of suitable sheet metal for ship construction. He furthermore indicated that delivery of this sheet metal was promised by the Soviets, but that imparts had entirely ceased, 2.
