Between 2. May and 2 June 1955, the Flak Kaserne (8501) in Weimar was occupied as previously by a unit of approximately 700 soldiers wearing red-bordered black epaulets. Some 30 soldiers wearing red-bordered black 25X1 epaulets were employed in the construction of a new macadamised road,, approximately 5 meters wide, toward the Ettersberg training grounds. 2. Between 21 May and 2 June, the east section of Tannenberg Kaserne (8502) 25X1 in Weimar was occupied by a guard detail of approximately 30 soldiers. All entrances were boarded up. The most section of the installation was occupied by some 300 soldiers wearing red-bordered blackgpaulets and 25X1 some 100 sobd.iers wearing black-bordered crimson Apaulets. Motor vehiolea 3. JSU-512 guns were seen. 8. On 4 June, intensive construction activity was observed at the Landgrafen post training grounds. Twelve large tents with a capacity of 20 to 25 soldiers each were built into the Rautalhang for better weather protection and several wooden and brick shod* were being erected. Approximately 150 soldiers wearing red-bordered black epaulets were employed. A large tank driving school was located in the woods just south of Closewitz. Four special devices for training of tank crews and 10 to 12 tanhe for training purposes and 25X1 5. Oomment. The Flak Kaserne is assumed to quarter elements of the 25X1 13th AAA Div the majority of which were absent on 4 May.l 25X1 7 Comment. The west section of the Tannenberg Kaserne is believed 25X1 to be occupied by the 581st Gds Mort Regt of the 20th Gds Mecz Div and the east section presumably by alements of the 65th Gds Meoz Regt of this 25X1 division. Other elements of the latter regiment are believed to be stationed in the Luetzendorf Kaserne, the east section of which is occupied by elements of the 13th ALL Div, while an U/i signal unit 25X1 is assumed to be stationed in the central section.
