REFERENCES
1. The $civiet merchant vessel 84 =IBS? was inspected in Liverpool on
31 May 1955. It is a coal-bursting steamier with two holds forward and
two aft. It is fitted with six derrisks of five-ton capacity, one
boom and two season posts forward and a similar arrangement aft.
There were four winches forward tad four aft. Iti.s not armed or strengthened
for guns or ice. Radar and kW egaipmeat *1 fitted but no details were
available. No D.G. was in ev:L&saee. It had a crew of 37 aboard.
2. The Soviet merchant ship If OL was inspected in Tyne on 1 June 1955.
The vessel's port of registry Ms Ireningxad. It 140 ptiwered by a triple 25X1
expansion engine driving a sisile screw and two coal burning butlers.
It had four holds fitted With ttv"n decks. It had eight derricks dis-
posed in pairs forward and aft of the foremast and mialamast. At each of
the derricks was a stem winch. There was a windlass forward and another'.
winch aft for line handling.
