The tabulation gives a survey of the park of tank cars used for the transportation of black and white products (gasoline and oil and lubricants respectively), the composition of the park of tanks cars, tank cars to be deactivated, damaged cars, and cars to be newly manufactured in 1956. In detail, the following can be said with --- ,r pr idividual columns of the attached tabulations_ if type of cars was reported previously. 25x1 25X1 On 22 April 1955,1 la grand total of 13,349 tank 25X1 cars) 25X1 The lower total number of cars assumed to be available on 1 January 1956 is explained by the fact that the number of cars scheduled to be de- activated by that dat cars newly 25X1 manufactured in 1955? Columns 5 to 10: The number of damaged and deactivated cars (11 percent) remains normal. Columns 23 and 26: These figures indicate that stocks of tank cars of-all types are inade- quate for present needs. This gap will have to be filled by the construction of new cars. (see column 29) Column 29!. The 1955 railroad tank car construction program envisaged the bWilAing of 50 four-axle cars for gasoline (typeO), 22 cars with heating tube for sulphuric acid t e III), and 30 cars for the transportatif, of bitumen (type II). 25X1 Comment.
