6. Chinese Communist soldiers in Amoy were dressed in grass-green uniforms. On
Sundays, platoon leaders and higher ranking officers were permitted to wear
civilian clothing when off duty.
1. Comment. Although the Amoy Seamen's Union had announced the
completion of the airfield, friends and relatives who had been employed
on the airfield had not as yet returned to their homes in Amoy.
