REMARKS
(fnu). The administrative offices and departments came from Schneller
Strasse in Berlin-Niederschoeneweide and occupied Section I a. The
administrative offices moved into wing F of building No 9 part of
which was completed in the meantime, while the two departments were
accomodated in building No 6a which had been vacated by the
departmental heads. The motor transport unit came from Berlin-
Adlershof and occupied Section Ib. Major Kuehnel who was relieved
from his duties was succeeded by Captain "Walter (fnu).l, 2 -

Strausberg airfield included the administrative offices for
rear services, the billeting department (VQN), the construction

the KVP chief to decide by himself-oi construction measures
up to the amount of 10 million eastmarks per project. This power
was hitherto exclusively reserved to the Minister of the Interior.4

7. :.n early September 1955, it appeared that another two billeting
offices were scheduled to be established in Magdeburg and/or
Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) in early 1956. 5
8. The 1C apartment houses for KVP generals of the Strausberg
headquarters which were under construction in the area between
Straussee (lake) and Fontane Strasse in Strausberg were scheduled
to be completed on 15 October 1955. In anticipation of parts of
the 1956 program it was intended to start still this year the
construction of single houses and double houses for Soviet advisers
in the vicinity of the Strausberg hospital.
9. In early September 1955, Colonel Rochlitjrelb+e of
billeting department, ordered that "Akti "
immediately and as quickly as possible.`' is-operation-concerned
measures for the blackout of the windows of all headquarters
buildings in the area of the several billeting offices. Besides,
funds of some 100,000 eastmarks were allocated for the execution
of ."Massrahme Heckel' which called for the fencing-in of installations
where fences were, not yet erected.

each of which had a capacity of 20,000 liters, a twin-standpipe
for diesel fuel, and a single standpipe for gasoline. It was
intended to construct another installation of the same type still
in 1955, while another two were scheduled to be constructed in 1956.

15. In early August 1955, the announced transfer of offices of
the li:inistry of the Interior from the installation on Schneller
Strasse in Berlin to installation I-in Strausberg was effectuated.

17. The mid-August 1955, KVPs from the L'ggersdorf installation picked
up 2 medium AA guns at the Soviet supply depot in Strausberg.

to 'ggersdorf was recently observed between the two installations.
18. On 30 August 1955, another 300 men of the AAA unit in Eggersdorf
allegedly went to the summer camp in the Wilkendorf forest.
In early September 1955, an undetermined number of soldiers
received training with a 85-mm AA gun in the area of the installation.
19. Prior to mid-August 1955, activities observed in the area of the
Eggersdorf installation included the daily relief of the guard and,
on some days, drill and aiming practices with four 85-mm AA guns.
Driving school was held with several trucks. On 10 August 1955,
12 tank trucks left the installation toward Hennickendorf. 11
20. On 31 August 1955, 600 to 800 KVPs who wore red-bordered black collar
patches and were presumably AA artillerymenpetruucked away in
. d.estihation.. Although no guns were observe

structures were constructed larger and higher than the existing
garages. The d.imentions of the doors were estimated at 4 x 4 meters.

23. The 6 garages under construction at the K:ggersdorf installation
which contained a total of 215 bays were scheduled to be completed
en'15 October 1955. It was allegedly intended to house tanks and
guns in these structures.
24. From 18 to 22 August 1955, no activity was observed'in the area
of the KVP billets on Rudower Chaussee in Berlin-Adlershof.
Trucks were only occasionally observed entering or leaving the
installation. The sedans which were previously parked in the
area of the installation were no longer observed.. On 1 and 2
September 1955, billeting equipment was taken from the installation
to the Adlershof railroad station on trucks whose drivers wore
red-bordered black epllar patches. Soldiers wearing dark-blue
collar patches were frequently observed in the area of the
installation. Sentries standing guard at the gate of the
installation wore red-bordered black collar patches. 1
25. On 19 August 1955, about 120 men were observed at drill practices
in the area of the Buchenwald concentration camp. Six trucks were
maintenanced. The billets quartered an estimated 250 to 300 KVPs.
On 17 August 1955, a caterpillar tractor which presumably belonged
to a unit stationed at Buchenwald was observed in the terrain
outside the installation. 12
26. At 1030 on 26 August 1955, 18 KVP trucks each of which was loaded
with a ponton passed through Neuruppin toward Rheinsberg from the
southwest. The pontoons greatly resembled model TNIP. 13
27. At 1900 on 27 August 1955, 50 to 60 KVP trucks, some loaded
with pontons, passed through Loewenberg toward Gransee from the
direction of Oranienburg. 13

has indicated that a socalled cartographic KVP office, designated
KVP-Dienststelle Halle XXI, had,,been stationed at Halle at that time.

Comment. The AAA regiment which is known in the Eggersdorf
