KVP training activities came to a close with fall inspections and the examinations at the schools. The employment of KVP personnel in harvesting continued. Training Activities: Sixteen tanks (JS, T-54 and SP) were engaged in night firing at the Wittstock training grounds on 17 and. 18 October. On 17 October, the medium tank regiment of the 6th Guards Mechanized Division went in one shipment from Ternptin to Kaulsdorf. T-34's, M-13 rocket launchers, and AT guns practiced firing at Die Levitz training grounds, south of Schwerin, on 15 and 19 October. Two shiments with tank details were sent from Leipzig/Taucha toward Eilenburg on 21 October. 3. Return of Border Guard Units to the-US : RThirteen shipments with border guard units returning to the USSR were observed between 14 and 22 October. KVP: a. According to as yet unconfirmed information a total of 8121 FDJ members were in the process of being inducted into the KVP between 1 and 15 October. b. On 25 October, a KVP shipment consisting of 25 heavy-duty flatcars, two boxcars, one flatcar and two converted boxcars went from Jueterbog to RBD Halle via Falkenberg. The shipment possibly involved a tank delivery to the KVP. c. The occupation of the KVP installations in Prora appeared to be unusually light on 18 October. Only engineer equipment was observed. d. The bulk of the corps units from Pasewalk were engaged in an exercise in the area northeast of Pasewalk between 18 and 21 October. The exercise was supervised by Brigadier General Hermann Rentzsch. e. Elements of Mechanized Regiments Oranienburg and Brandenburg Hohenstuecken and of Artillery Regiment Gloewen had apparently moved to the training grounds East of Klietz after 22 October.
