Ca:ut Gernany COUNTRY_._ --- Doeberitz Airfield TOPIC EVALUATION DATE OF CONTE DATE OBTAINED REFERENCES PAGES - REMARKS REPORT PLACE OBTAINED ENCLOSURES (NO. & TYPE) PREPARED 31 October 1955 12 to 21 September. About 50 I1-lOs were parked at the northern and eastern portion of the field. In addition to the aircraft mentioned, 7 L:iG-15s were observed at the field but these planes wera riot involved in air activity. 26 September. Only about 25 Il-lOs were observed at the field. It was presumed that the remaining I1-10s had left the field during the night between 25 and 26 September. The 7 L1iG-15s were no longer observed. 27 September to 5 October. About 30 I1-lOs were parked at the field. 27 September. There was intensive air activity by Il-lOs, which took off in elements of two and practiced flying in formations of up to 9 Il-lOs. 1. Between 12 September and 5 October 1955, no-changes were observed at Hichthofen-Kaserne in Doeberitz. Prior to 15 September, no training courses or technical training were being given. Between 15 September and 5 October, activities observed there included political training, sport activities, renovation work at quartering billets, and work at repair shops on the airfield. 2. Between 12 and 21 September 1955, no changes in the occupation of NS-Kaserne at Doeberitz were observed. Prior to 5 October, it could not be determined if any details of the ground attack regiment were still stationed at the Kaserne. 3. The following air activity and aircraft were observed at Doeberitz airfield between 12 September and 5 October: Approved For Release 2008/01/24: CIA-RDP80-0081 OA008400610005-0 25X1 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2008/01/24: CIA-RDP80-0081 OA008400610005-0 4 October, About 7 iwiG-15s were parked in the eastern hangar. About 2,000 camp beds were installed in rows at the western hangar. It was assumed that this hangar would temporarily serve as quart;erin,* billets. 4. On 29 September, two formations of three iaiG-15s practiced flying over Doeberitz airf4_--1d. On 30 September and 4 October, 11-10s practiced flying individually or in formations of three. 5. At about 1500 on 0 October, no aircraft were observed at Doeberitz airfield. A dap, about 10 meters wide, was observed in the fence near the gate on the road.' Comment. Since raid-Liarch 1955, Doeberitz airfield has been occupied by the ground attack regiment, which previously was stationed at Brandenburg-briest. Because of repair work, the ground attack regiment from Alt Loennewitz was transferred to 1randenburg-Briest airfield. During fall maneuvers, units from the ground attack division at Brandenburg were employed in the exercises, while the ground attack regiment from Doeberitz was transferred temporarily sometime after 6 October 1955, to the training area of the Lighth Gda Army at Thuringia. LUG-15s are used for training purposes at Doeberitz airfield. The camp beds placed in the western hangar of Doeberitz airfield are presumably scheduled for the temporarily quartering of recruits. The estimated number of 2,000 camp beds seemed to be rather `iigh. Approved For Release 2008/01/24: CIA-RDP80-0081 OA008400610005-0
