1. Contrary to the officially-voiced policy of freedom of religion and
clerical school instruction, the government printing house is not
producing the textbooks required by religious educators,
20 In October 1955 it was discovered that religious textbooks were being
illegally printed on a stencil machine for projected large-scale dissem-
ination. Consequently, ten Dominicans, two Jesuits and one Franciscan
were arrested and charged with the illegal distribution of religious
literature in various country towns. They have not yet been brought to
trial and their fate is uncertain.
3. Cardinal Joszef Mindszenty is confined in the Pecsi Puspok country home
at Bakonypoloske in the Veszprem district, where his mother has been
