Summary of Suggestion The suggester proposes an improved clamping device for copy- boards on monotype cameras by modifying four (4) clamps which provide a tight seal for the glass cover and copy board. The old clamps used a 3/4 inch square block of groved aluminum (~.....' } while the new provides inclines to the block for rapid and correct seating of clamps. Details of design are in the attached drawing. B. Summary of Evaluations On 10 September 1957, the Office of Logistics stated: "The suggestion that an improved clamping device be installed on the copy board of the Monotype camera in the Printing Services Division's Administration Building Plant is being adopted. Division personnel will make the installation. "This suggestion will result in intangible savings only through the elimination of the trouble encountered in seating the clamp on the present installation. A nominal award is recommended." On 14 October 1957, TSS/GARD made the following comment: "TSS/GARD concurs in the recommendation. It should be pointed out that this is a very limited-use suggestion as it is for a specific piece of equipment." On 20 December 1957, Machine Division/OCR stated: "This is a limited use suggestion that is not ap- plicable to the filming operations in OCR, however, the suggestion seems worthy of the recommendation accompanying it." Summary of Suggestion The suggester proposes a device to raise the rear leg of the tripod of a Model E Portable Microfilm Camera to allow filming of Kardex trays. B. Summary of Evaluations C Adopted Not Adopted ppro For Release 2000 On 12 September 1957, Chief, Administrative Staff, OL stated: "The suggestion that there be developed a device to raise the rear leg of the tripod of a Model E Portable Micro- film Camera has been adopted by the Printing Services Division and has been in effect for several months. This device has proved very effective in filming records that are composed of Kardex trays. It has improved the quality of the film and has resulted in obtaining good quality of prints from this type of material. "This suggestion will result in no direct savings but will have the effect of improving the quality of reproduction and the versatility of the camera operation. A nominal award based upon these intangible benefits is recommended. "It is recommended that this suggestion be referred to FI/RI for possible use in the filming of their vital materials." This suggestion was forwarded to RI, TSS, OCR and ORR. None of these offices have any present need of this item. C. Executive Secretary's Recommendation 1. Not in line of duty.
