6. The Germans destroyed 80 of Kharkov!s factories and 60% of Its dwellings.
Thirteen of 50 coal mines have been restored, but production does not
exceed 30 or 40 tons daily. By contrast, Soviets claim that prewar
production was 1,000 tons p or day,
7. The tractor factory produces one or two tractors daily.
8. Three tall buildings in the center of town, housing Khnrlaov's administrative
headquarters, were not damaged structurally, Many of the administrative
offices normally located in Kiev are now in Kharkov.

9. A large tank repair chop of truss construction, resembling an airplane
hangar, is located partly in a wood to the east of Darnitsa. The only
building of its kind in the area, it is being used to repair heavy tanks,

100 At Dnepropetrovsk the Germans destroyed 24.6% of the dwellings, 70of the
office buildings and 80% of the factories. Practically all the latter are
located on an island in the river to the east of the town. Soviet authorities
say that their Government plans to spend 125 million rubles on reconstruction
in 1946 said hopes to complete the job by 1950.

11, In Poltava 100,000 people live in dugouts. The only industrial installations
in operation are a locomotive repair shop bait a mile went of the station and a
stocking factory, The textile mill, thick before the war had 100,000 spindles,
is completely destroyed.
12. Kremenehug was 98% destroyed by the war, Its only factory in operation
manufactures cigarettes,

13. Freight traffic observed between Moscow and Kiev consists mostly of lumber on
flatcars and machinery of German origin, both moving south, and coal moving
north. The machinery is rusted and otherwise in poor condition because it is
neither covered with tarpaulins nor treated with cosmoline.

14. A complex of four airfields is located approximately 15 minutes flying time
(in Soviet DC-3) e L4 . t of IMMlinsk. Apparently in storage, many of the 200
to 250 planes parked on the fields are non-operational -xnd partially
covered with tarpaulins. Some of them are damaged.

15. A new airport is being constructed, in the heavily mooded country 20 miles
southwest of Moscow. Concrete nitre and otho- ..nstallations on the some
scale as the Moscow airport's were belag built.

headquarters.
3. In this area is located the town's heavy industry. To the
south of the railroad bridge is a large power plant with two
high chimneys. It is in full operation.
4. In this area is located the town's light incluctry~.
5. In this area is a truck perk Frith. about 300 trucks on
blocks. Maintenance crews live in dugouts, Two similar parks
are located between Moscow and the new Moseov airport mentioned
in Para 15.
