The educational system in Finland consists of 4 years of elementary school,, usually began at the age of 7 years (I began my school at the age of 5 rears), and 8 years of secondary school. After_tite secondary school, there is a maturity examination. ? Successful passing of this examination is compulsory for entering the University. 2. The med.Thal studies. at the'TTniversity in Helsinki begin after the maturity examination and consis+ ask., (1) a preliminary examination for entering the Medical Faculty, (2) the examination of tue Candidate of Medicine, and (3) the examination of the Licentiate of Medicine. Usually some 1/5 to 113 of the applicants are accepted and can go on with their studies in the Medical Faculty. 4. TJ4e examination of the Candidate of Medicine in the Medical Faculty consists of 3 terms of Maatom?Y (macro-and microanatomy), vhYiiol2gE, physiological chemistry, and 2hEj acol with theoretical lectures and pract c laboratory and dissection during all three terms. At the end of the third term there is an examination in all these topics. After this examination,the Candidates of Medicine begin the hospital training at the various departments of the University Hospital. This training consists of 7 terms (31 years) as follows:, (a) lot term.
