the airfield shown on the chart was hidden
by high trees, there was a certain amount of activity, and not more than
five twin engine planes going in and coming out of the field. These were all painted
green and one was towing a target sleeve. The target plalie would make a circle from
the field to the west then south and circle over hills north of the airfield, approxi-
mately in the area on the chart where anti-aircraft guns fired at the sleeve target.
The plane would then circle back to the airfield, The distance_was too great to see
anything in detail with the naked eye, and not able to use binocu-
lars.

Beyond the northern end of the quay at a point marked "C" an old ship is anchored, with
its bow on shore, which seems to be used as a supplementary unloading quay for small
vessels and it is at this point that water, which is scarce and expensive, is 50X ob4...4 1 1 -HUM

13. The area south seemed to be a small naval base. A great deal of
construction work was going on (area marked "D" on chart). A number of small patrol
vessels were tied up herepand to the east along shore they seemed to be constructing
some kind of a quay. This could not be determined with the naked eye. \
Saw about five small submarines entering and leaving at different times.
Also at the point marked "E" on the chart a large capacity bucket dredge was dredging
the harbor. It was loading into lighters which were being towed out to a dumping ground
at quite a rapid rate.

19. There was much construction of various sorts going on in the vicinity, and in particular,
the hills just behind the south end of the jetty were being levelled. The terrain
was very hilly and of a rocky nature with no trees, but the
hills were covered with law-growing bushlike vegetation. 50X1 -HUM
