"There is a large ammunition factory in the town of Legnowo, south of Bydgoszcz,
but it is camouflaged by the name, 'United Works of Chemical Industry' (Ziednoczone
Zaklad Prze lslu Chemicznego) I iE

2. The factory buildings are scattered over a large area and are under the strict
supervision of a special iidustrial guard unit. Over 800 people are employed there.
"Gunpowder is produced in large underground chambers the roofs of which form slight
protuberances above ground. This, is c l r,, camouflaged with trees and
grass. The gunpowder produced there is put into barrels and taken away in the direc-
tion of Inowxaoclr end Tczew. The only factory buildings that are not underground

"During the German occupation, 3 _ = 3 . b ;s
plant situated on the site of the present factory. In 1947, however, all the
machines were dismantled and taken to the USSR. Now, it is officially announced,
new machines produced in the USSR are being delivered instead. The old workers,
however, have recognized them to be the old machines that had been looted by the
Soviets and are now being sold to Poland as 'Soviet' goods."
