The center of the Hungarian light chemical industry is in and around Budapest;
tie most important factories in the heavy chemical industries are located '
around. the Balcony mountains. Preparations are being made now to make another
center at Vac, where they want to establish one or two light chemical in-
dustrial organizations. The most important factories in Hungary in the heavy
chemical industry are the following: Peti Eltrogenmnvek, Fuzfoi litrokemia,
Peremartoni Bobbanoszergyar, Papkeszi Babanoszergyar, Hungaria Vegylmnvek
in Budapest. Out of these, the Peti litrogenonvek was considered in 195/ as
tops, and Eltrokemia was second.
2. The most important light chemical factory outside of Budapest is in Budszent-
Mihaly. Its name is Alkaloids Vegyigyar, and it has 800 workers. In 1951 it
was conSidered as tops. In Budapest, the "Vegyigyarakat Letesito Memieti
Vallalat" (National Organization for the Establishing Chemical Factories),
was established at V Nador atm 18. /ts purpose and duty is to plan and, find
sites for those chemical factories that are planned in the five year project.
The nationalization of the Hungarian chemical factories took place partly in
1947, at the same time when the banks were nationalized, partlNarck 25,
1948, when there was a general nationalization of industrial plant. Siyeral
of th6 plants were considerably changed after their nationalization; 26me were
enlarged, the amaller.ones were merged and the production was specialized.
After the factories were nationalized, all nationalized plants were classified
by the government in Nay 1948 in five classes (Al B, C, D, E). The evaluation
of the classification was done on the basis of the following chart:

average is to be considered.
