n e area around the Royal Castle of Budapest in the Var is closed off to the
public because, it is officially maintained, there is the danger that it
might collapse. Actually, howver, large air-raid shelters are being built
underneath the castle, and people have seen large lead plates, used for rein-
forcing shelters against ateiic explosions, being taken to the site.
