2. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Received a call from
Chris Kemp, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, who
requested a copy of "Communist Aid to Less Developed Countries
of the Free World, 1977." I told her I would forward a copy
in the near future.
3. (Unclassified - MG) CONSTITUENT Per her request of
today on behalf of a constituent, sent to Pat, in the office
of Senator Birch Bayh (D., Ind.), some biographic information
about the DCI and a list of past Directors and Deputy Directors
of the Agency.
4. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Received a call from
Clyde Mark, Congressional Reference Service, Library of
Congress, who asked if we could confirm the press reports
that the Shah of Iran is abdicating. After checking with
NFAC/CSS, I told Mr. Mark that we had nothing to confirm the
reports.
5. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Received a call from
Carl Ford, OSR employee on a year's internship with Senator
John H. Glenn (D., Ohio), who said that the Senator would be
very interested in receiving four or five copies of the Agency's
PRC atlas when he is at Headquarters on 2 January 1979 for
a pre-trip briefing on China. I informed Chuck Peters, NFAC/CSS,
who will bring the atlases to the briefing.
6. (Unclassified - MG) CONSTITUENT Received a call
from Flo Thompson, in the office of Senator Charles H. Percy
(R., Ill.), who requested a copy of "Chiefs of State and
Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments" for a constituent. I
referred her to the Library of Congress.

7. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Received a call from
Jason Cooke, House International Relations Subcommittee on
Inter-American Affairs staff, who was promised twenty maps of
Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuba at a briefing the previous day.
They were to be delivered today and by late afternoon he had
noy yet received them. After checking with NFAC/CSS, I called
Cooke back and told him to get in touch with the full Committee
Chief of Staff because the maps were put in the envelope with 25x1
the NID which was delivered to the Chief of Staff this morning.
9. (Unclassified - MG) LIAISON Returned the call of
yesterday of Martin James, in the office of Representative
William V. Alexander (D., Ark.). Mr. James was not in and is
to call back.

1. (Internal Use Only - DFM) LIAISON Talked with Jim Thessin,
Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, at some length about his request
for a briefing for Senators Frank Church (D., Idaho) and Jacob Javits (R., N.Y.)
on Saudi oil production. Thessin requested the briefing for 4'January 1979
at 9:30 a.m.
2. (Confidential - DFM) LIAISON Received a call from Ed Levine,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, on the secure line, who
said Bill Miller, Staff Director of the Committee, asked him to 'inquire
whether the Agency had any reports supporting today's news broadcast that
the Shah was leaving Iran and if so how long we had known. After checking,
I informed Levine that we had no solid information
3. (Confidential - DFM) LIAISON Received a call from Stan Taylor,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who asked for a street map
of Moscow in connection with his upcoming trip with Senator Jake Garn (R., Utah).
