SUBJECT; Preparation of Report . on the National Psychologi
The Psychological Strategy Board, at its meeting on
October 31, 1952, requested the Director to study the matter
of periodic reports to the President and the National Security
Council, with a view to developing recommendations with respect
to period to be covered, format, procedure, and other relevant
aspects thereof". In accordance with this request, work on such
a stud was Initiated at. once. Consultations have been held with
the reporting staff of the National Security Council, and with
appropriate officers In the member departments and agency, and In
the Mutual Security Agency.
The study is still continuing, but the necessity for meeting
the NSC' a request for a progress report covering the period
October I to December 31, 1952, means that an interim working
agreement between the staffs concerned is desirable for this
purpose. It is our understandin that the attached proposals
have been discussed with you by and accepted
as a basis for drafting the next report.
It is hoped that the experience gained in applying these
suggestions to the report will be of value in determining what
form the final recommendations requested by the Board should take.
