Walter Radius on the above subject. The two State representatives declared that they had taken strong exceptions to the Rockefeller proposals primarily because "they left the Secr?tary of State out in left field." Furthermore, they were opposed to the Security Strategy Board being created as a committee of NSC with certain command functions in addition to whatever other responsibilities they might inherit from the PSB. Mr. Sergeant planned to consult with the William Jackson Committee forthwith and was interested in preventing any premature action on the part of the Rockefeller group. 2. CPP and Cv3ps thereafter reported to DD/Pta office regarding this matter. DI)/P was cognizant of the issue in question and appeared to be agreeable to have CPP contact William Jackson to apprise him of the situation, and a possible trip to New York for this purpose was mentioned. The DCI at once telephoned Nelson Rockefeller and discussed the matter with him in the presence of CPP and C-Ops. The DCIfs attitude was that instead of soliciting individual, independent comments from the various in- terested Agencies, Nelson Rockefeller should be given a coordinated opinion after the next PSB weekly meeting on 'T'hursday, 2 April 1953. According to DCI, Rockefeller was agreeable to this and would cancel his idea of placing proposed memo from CPP to Di3,/P (above reference). memo referred to in the above, plus attachment (with language concerning the proposed Security Strategy Doard.)
