SUBJECT: Ma 24 1 62 telephone conversation with
Deputy Comptroller, CIA
called today to advise that the requested meeting -- set
for 10:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 1962, -- between the Director of Central
Intelligence and the Comptroller General had been completely called off
today at the request of the Comptroller General. As understood
it, the Comptroller General advised that it would not be necessary for
him to come over for such a meeting, because the Director was aware of
the extant of and limitations on the General Accounting Office audit
of CIA.
advised also that he was fully aware of the GAO audit
situation, and that he had fully briefed Mr? Bross, CIA Comptroller,
on the matter, but that Messrs. Bross and would be pleased to meet
with Mr. Samuelson and Mr. Pahl, if Mr. Samuelson so desired.
