OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS NOTICE NO. 41-73
SUBJECT: OC Reorganization
1. On 14 June 1973 the DD/MFRS approved the plan to
reorganize the Office of Communications as indicated on the
attached chart. Details concerning position identification,
office locations, etc., remain to be worked out.
2. Goals which the reorganization seeks to achieve
include:
A reduced span of control for the D/CO,
A reduction in personnel positions,
Clarification of support points of contact for
customers,
Improved efficiency,
Clarification of lines of command.
3. The new organization recognizes that Collection and
Research and Development functions will no longer be performed
by OC. RFD responsibilities will be transferred to the
DD/SF1T/ODE. The transfer of Collection responsibilities is
still being negotiated with the likelihood that most, if not
all, functions will be assigned to the DD/0.
4. The plan for implementing the reorganization is to
make it effective 1 July 1973. Personnel reductions required
by the reorganizations will then be phased throughout FY 1974.
