MEMORANDUM FOR:
SUBJECT: Application for Membership in the Career
Staff
1. A preliminary examination of Agency records indicates
you will become eligible to apply for membership in the Career
Staff of the Central Intelligence Agency on
2. If you desire to apply for membership in the CIA Career
Staff, you. should sign, date, and return the attached application
through official channels to the Head of your Career Service. He
will forward it to the Executive Director of the CIA Selection
Board with his recommendation. When the Selection Board has
acted on your application, you will be notified of the action and of
the effective date of your membership in the Career Staff. Effective
date of membership will be as prescribed by the Selection Board
and normally will be the date on which you sign your application or
the date of your eligibility, whichever date is later.
3. If your application has not been received by the Executive
Director of the Selection Board within 90 days from date of your
eligibility,, it will be assumed that you do not wish to apply for mem-
bership in the Career Staff and' official Agency records will be
documented to this effect. This does not, however, preclude your
right to make application at a future time.
4. Inquiry regarding your application may be made of the
Executive Director of the CIA Selection Board, extension

It is made a matter of record this date that the appli-
cation for membership in the Career Staff for the above named
individual has not been received within the time prescribed in
Revised 0 paragraph 7a(4), dated 10 July 1957, i.e.,
within 90 days of eligibility. It is assumed, therefore, that
this individual does not wish to make application for membership
in the Career Staff.
