"'. Approved For Release 2001/03/04: CIA-RDP80-01826R000100140001-9. =- " 'w VIA: ---------------- ----------------------- 25X1A2g To : Chief, a, ., FROM : chief of Base, Dispatch No-------------------------- Date --------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: GENERAL- Administrative SPECIFIC- Comments by former PM Staff Members on Their Recruitment, Training and Assignments 1. Durinn the period of rapid build-up of KUB&TK during 1950 and 1951, a number of young men who had finished university training in those years were brought into KUBAP'K iTTfaediately after graduation; most of them took para-military training after entering KUUARK. These individuals have, probably because they are of the same age group and because they shared certain experiences in KTTB RRK, regarded themselves as a distinct "'group+t within KtTBARK. 25X1A6c 2C1 A6a 2. Late in 1953 I learned that some individuals of this group in uash- ington were preparing a constructive critical study of their experiences after joining KUBARK, ie there are several former PM staff members who fall in 25X1A8a this category at and because I did not feel that worthwile comments could securely be transmitted by anything but official secure channels, I suggested to these individuals that the views they wished to contribute could most 25X1A8a appropriately be forwarded as an enclosure to a letter from the Chief of= with the specific request that the enclc8ure be delivered to the Inspector General's office which, I.understand, was giving some attention to the matter. The attached enclosure contains personal accounts of the staff employees concerned; 25X1A9a it is requested that they be delivered to 3. I have discussed all the problems concerned with each of the individuals and consider this particular chapter closed with the forwarding of the attach- ments. I consider each former PM staff employee assigned to the as an individual staff member of KUtK and no longer identifiable as t e member of any particular group. At the same tine, I fully appreciate the dif- ficulty to the individual that resulted from, misunderstanding regarding draft status and PI'S training. In general, I have found that these individuals are intelligent, extremely well motivated, industrious in learning both languages and tradecraft and well suited to careers with KUI3ARN. 25X1A9a Encl: 1 Envelope with comments DISTRIBUTIt 1 ,/319747 att. 3 CO w/o att.
