Today we christen the Career Staff of the Central Intelligence
Agency. I am privileged and honored to participate in this cereony-
a ceremony in which we announce the names of the first group of
members of the CIA Career Staff.
Our present career system was established! on 1 July 19554.

United States and abroad have made application for membership in
the Career Staff. Each applicant's record in being carefully
reviewed by his supervisors, the Head of his Career Service, and
seven offices concerned with his records. , Office of Security.
Medical Staff. Office of Training, Office of Personnel, Inspector
f Examiners makes the final review and the CTA Selection
specti.on and Review Staff, and Office of the Coinptrolleerj
Ord, an Agency-wide Board appointed by the Director, makes the
final decision.
