MEMORANDUM FOR: Inspector General
SUBJECT : Report of Personnel Positions Organizationally
Located Outside the Personnel Office
1. In accordance with your verbal request of 11 June 1953, there
is forwarded herewith a tabulation of those positions carried on cur-
rently authorized tables of organization, outside the regular Personnel
Office organization, which are concerned in whole or in part with per-
sonnel support-type activities,
2. The tabulation reflects two categories of positions: (a) those
calling for substantially full-time effort on personnel activities, and
(b) those estimated to require more than 25% but less than a majority
effort on personnel activities.
3. Attention is invited to the fact that within the Office of Com-
munications and the W P organization, additional personnel are detailed
or engaged in personnel support-type activities. In this latter cate-
gory are three Communications Technicians (Radio), who are detailed full
time, and numerous Operations Officers (Case Officer or Project Officer),
who, because of the nature of their assignments, are required to estab-
lish personal contacts with covert and semi-covert individuals. This
latter relationship includes the personal affairs as well as operational
matters, but is in most instances requiring less than 25% effort, hence,
such positions have not been reported.
