I opened the meeting with a discussion of the status of the team effort and the nature of a final report on planning an item identification system. He noted that we had finalized elements necessary and desirable to identify items uniquely and to describe them adequately for a broad spectrum of purposes. He noted that considerable time and effort had gone into devising a category scheme within which intelligence items could be placed. 2. A paper was then distributed by Mr. Baxter which concluded that no clear-cut need for a categorization scheme had been established and that the team therefore should abandon further effort to develop such a scheme. distributed a paper entitled "Proposed Category of Intelligence items. Discussion of the requirement for a categorization scheme ensued.
