Sanitized - Approved For Release : CIA-RDP80B01439R000500120015-0 FOIAb1 OFFICE OF T , DD/ 13 M After a phone conversation with Senator Symington last week, you requested some material on broadcasting by the USSR and other Communist countries. Attached is the response to that request. . The first part contains some statistics and descriptive material on these broadcasts. The second part describes some items of news that were omitted from Soviet broadcasts. The third part summarizes communist views of RFE and RL. The last part contains some descriptions and quotes on'propaganda being beamed abroad by Moscow and Eastern European radios. ` P The statistics are Impressive, but the excerpts are not. Furt ermore, you may decide not to send the suction on Communist views of RFE and RL t Symington because it could be used by opp,6nents of the radios as evidence that the Soviets consider RFE and RL as "cold war relics".
