SUBJECT : Briefing for Mr. Ralph Preston
1. I am sending along a briefing schedule for Ralph Preston
and some biographic information on him.
2. I.am sure you recognize the importance of this briefing,
since Mr. Preston will have a very substantial influence on our
requests for appropriations and our relations with Mr. Mahon's
subcommittee in general. This, however, will not be a budget
briefing. I will attempt to brief him on our organization, mission,
and functions in a general way, and each Deputy Director is ex-
pected to brief him on what he does, why it is important, etc.,
without attaching any dollar or personnel figures to the presenta-
tion. We expect Mr. Preston to return a few days later for a
budget briefing which John Clarke and I will handle.
