I have recently been informed that the Central.Intelligence Agency has
produced a short,. unclassified film which may be available to public organizations
about the Agency and how it works. In a few weeks the Student Press Association
will hold its annual College Editors Conference at the Shoreham Hotel. (Feb. 13-16)
for some 500 student editors from all across the country, and I would. like your
opinion on whether to show the film then.
Quite a lot of note terribly useful discussion has gone on in the past
over the-Agency's activities, and I think editors now would simply like to
know informatioiial.ly.about it, and to the extent that it can be discussed, how
policy is formulated. Since I understand that the movie is a"recent production
and ,is of high quality, I think that you might find a meeting of student
editors a particularly-appropriate place to present the film. Given both
;,the `nature of. our conference's theme--"The Economics of Social Disorder"--
. I_might add that in addition to our hotel conference program--wl&,h includes
such guests as Ralph Nader, Karl Deutsch, Walter Reuther, Paul McCracken,
Ray Tanter, Daniel Suits, Bayard Rust-in, and others--we have scheduled a
number of interviews and briefings with governmental agencies, research
institutions, policy advisors, etc.
If the film is available--and I certainly hope that it is--I can be
reached at this office for the rest of the week afterwhich I shall be out
of town until early February. After this week USSPA Administrative..Assistant
Sharon Cooke can discuss the matter with you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Frank Browning, Coordi ator
